EPRI Europe is an independent non-profit Energy Organisation that conducts independent R&D, bringing wide expertise on community-driven energy solutions.
EPRI Europe is leading Task 4.3 – Simulation of Energy Flows and Virtual Energy Allocation, which consists on the development of a web-based tool to simulate energy flows at consumption and production meters, calculating balances between production, consumption, storage, surplus, grid purchases, and usage indicators.
In addition, EPRI Europe will participate in the Irish Demo, focused on energy efficiency in agricultural PV-based communities, and lead communication and dissemination of the project.
Klimaan is a Belgian citizen-driven energy cooperative based in Mechelen, dedicated to fostering a sustainable, inclusive, and climate-neutral society. Operating on democratic principles, we empower local citizens to take ownership of the energy transition by investing in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and shared e-mobility. Their mission extends beyond infrastructure; we strive for a socially fair transition through education and deep community engagement.
Within the INNO-TREC consortium, Klimaan leads the Belgian demo project in the Otterbeek district of Mechelen. Their primary focus is to ensure that the benefits of renewable energy reach everyone, particularly social housing tenants.
Building on their installation of solar panels across 197 social homes, they are testing innovative peer-to-peer (P2P) energy sharing models and demand-response flexibility. A key aspect of their role is the integration of local solar production with shared electric mobility. By using digital tools and community-based incentive schemes – such as ‘Energy Coins’ – they aim to reduce energy poverty, maximise local consumption of green energy, and reinvest savings into affordable mobility solutions for the neighbourhood.
